In November Conwy Connect held their Annual General Meeting at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club.

“Welsh Ambulance Service Learning & Fun Day” 26th Sept 2017
In September Conwy Connect worked in partnership with the Welsh Ambulance Service to host a learning & Fun day at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club.
Things that happened at this meeting were.
- A fun interactive quiz with James Hughes
- Meet the mascot, Jack
- Picasso Arts and Crafts
- Boots Make Over
- Look inside an ambulance
- How to help someone if their heart has stopped.
“Our Rights Our Voice” May 24th 2017
Our Rights Our Voice and “Lets Get Working” was held on Wednesday 24 May 10.00 am to 3.00pm at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club.
we learnt about
- What rights are
- Why rights matter
- What to do if you are not getting your rights
We also had guest speakers from Agoriad Cyf and the OPUS project.
‘Your Love Life’ Event
Our ‘Your Love Life’ event was held on Tuesday 28th February 2017, 10am to 3pm at The Interchange in Old Colwyn. It was organised with and hosted alongside Jane McIlveen, Development Officer for The Down’s Syndrome Association (and Conwy Connect Committee Member).
The aim of the event was to
- inform you about relationships
- help you increase your confidence
- enable you to discuss relationships
- make you aware of contraceptives and how to keep safe
We tried to do this in a variety of ways – there were interactive presentations, discussion groups, workshops, games and quizzes as well as a role play by the Venture Drama Group. Everyone was given an information pack to take away with them.
The event was well attended and it was great to see so many people feeling comfortable enough to talk openly about sex and relationships on the day.
Our Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 22nd November 2016, 7.00pm – 9.00pm, at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club. There was an opportunity to ask questions on the work of Conwy Connect. James Hughes presented an interactive quiz about the Welsh Ambulance Service. We introduced the Smart Meter Project being lead by TAPE and The Venture Drama Group performed a song for us.

“Reaching New Heights”
Our most recent event “Reaching New Heights” was held on Wednesday 14th September 2016 at Ysgol Gogarth, 7.00pm -8.30pm, despite the low numbers it was a great evening with members hearing all about the work of the Outdoor Partnership. Members also had an opportunity to have ago on the climbing wall nad book onto the future course being run by our Moving on Solutions Service.
“What Matters to You”
This event was held on Tuesday 10th May 2016 at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club, 10.00am – 12.30pm.
“What Matters to You” gave our members an opportunity to hear about the Dewis website, Conwy Access Team and find out information about changes to Health and Social Care.
“Speak up for your Community”
This was held on Tuesday 9 February at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club,10.00am – 2.30pm
The event included information about the proposal to change our area of operation to North Wales this was agreed at the Extraordinary meeting held before the event
Caryl Hughes from the Outreach Assembly Services ran part of the session, it was a fun interactive, and included information about the National Assembly for Wales elections, what is a manifesto is, a mock election and vote.

“Check your Health” meeting was held on Wednesday 23 September 2015, 10.30am-3.00pm at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club. We officially launched ‘Your Guide To Your Health Check’
The meeting gave an opportunity for those present to find out about:
- Why is it important to go to your Health Check?
- What should be in your Health Check? This included audience participation to find out what should be in your health check
- Screening and what it is?
- Diabetes, how to look out for symptoms of it
Sonia Winley Learning Disability Acute Liaison Nurse gave a talk about the Learning Disability Liaison Team and their work. Fatima Sayed, Screening Engagement Practitioner (Public Health Wales) gave a talk on health screening and what it is.
The “Keeping Safe” event was held on 3 June at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club. We had 38 members in attendance. PC Rob Newton Miller, Diversity Officer from the North Wales Police and Sue Jones from Victim support were our guest speakers explaining:
- What is a hate crime/incident
- How to report it
- Who to contact and support that there is
“Your Right To Vote” held on Tuesday 10 February 2015
Conwy Connect held its quarterly event on Tuesday 10 February 2015 at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club, 10.30am – 2.00pm.
Liz Price from the Parliament Outreach Service and Caryl Williams from the National Assembly for Wales Outreach Team gave a joint interactive presentation on the day.
We were delighted that the National Assembly Outreach Team and the Parliament Outreach Service partnered together to deliver a joint interactive and interesting workshop to our members which included people with learning disabilities, parent/carers and Voluntary organisations. It was enjoyed by all – not easy making politics interesting but they both did through the use of photographs, videos and users friendly exercises.
Food for Thought Open Meeting 16th Sept 2014
Conwy Connect held an open meeting on the 16th Sept 2014 about healthy eating.
Our Health improvement co-ordinator Paul Carter explaining about what you need to have on your plate to enjoy a healthy balanced meal.
47 people came to the meeting.
We had lots of discussion on what we should eat often, less often and as a treat.
